Hymn To The Immortal World,这张由大师Steve Albini负责录音的专辑将收录7首作品,分别是Ashes In The Snow、Burial At The Sea、Silent Flight, Sleeping Dawn、Pure As Snow(Trails of The Winter Storm)、Follow The Map、The Battle To Heaven和Everlasting Light。
1. How has the band’s touring experience generally been in this region (Japan, Singapore, etc.)?
We’ve always had good experiences playing in Asia. We’ve been going to Japan regularly for almost 10 years and its one of our favourite places to play.
2. What’s finally brought you over to Malaysia? Are you aware of your fan-base here?
When we played in Singapore a few years ago we met lots of people who had came over for the concert so we knew that there were people who liked Mogwai in Malaysia.
3. Any expectations for your Malaysia show?
I’m sure its going to be a great night. I always like going to new places and i’m really intrigued by Malaysia as I’m sure it is very different from Scotland.
4. How does it affect your live performance to be playing in a new place, as opposed to somewhere you’ve already toured and are familiar with the fan-base?
It doesn’t really matter though if its somewhere we’ve never been before we might play more of our old songs as no one there will have heard them before.
5. Malaysia has played host to other major instrumental rock acts over the past year (Explosions in the Sky, Mono, Toe). How does the band regard these other acts? For the sake of those who’ve watched the aforementioned bands, what can they expect from your band?
Those bands play a similar style of music to us and are good bands but i think we are bit different. I think if people enjoyed those bands they would enjoy hearing us as well.
6. Malaysia has had a wave of (for simplicity’s sake) ‘post-rock’ bands in the past few years, many of which cite you as influences. Is this flattering or does it bother you that there’s saturation of bands playing the same kind of music? Would you personally choose to listen to bands like these that played music influenced by you?
I think its very flattering when people are influenced by your music. It doesn’t bother me at all.
7. Anything you’d like to say to your Malaysian fans? (To those who’ll be at the show, and to those still deciding whether or not to go)
